Corn Tortillas!

WARNING!
Once you make these, you will never buy store-bought again!
So easy and DELICIOUS! If you do not have a tortilla press, you can use a rolling pin or a heavy dish and press them.

Ingredients: 

  • 2 cups masa harina(I love Bob’s Red Mill
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1.5 cups warm water 

Directions: 

  1. In a mixing bowl add the masa and salt. Stir.
  2. Now add 1 cup warm water and mix.
  3. Slowly add the remainder water a few Tablespoons at a time. This is
  4. IMPORTANT* because if you add too much the dough will become sticky and not work correctly. I find most of the time I only use a few tablespoons of the remainder water.
  5. We want enough for it to form a ball but not be too sticky to the touch.
  6. That is the perfect consistency. (If it is too sticky add a little more masa)
  7. Now roll into golf size balls. About 12-15
  8. Using 2 large zip lock bags
  9. Lay one down onto the tortilla press or counter then, and the ball.
  10. Second bag goes on top and press the ball down onto a flat disc.
  11. Carefully peel off the top bag and the tortilla.
  12. Cook on med-high in a cast-iron or hot pan for 1 min on each side.
  13. Store in a tortilla bag or tea towel
  14. Serve right away or store in a sealed container and keep in the refrigerator.
