Smokey Baked Beans

Baked beans MMMM the BBQ isn’t quite complete without it, and these always get eaten in a flash. You will not have any leftovers and the best part is that is so easy to make!

Huge fan of BBQ in general in my home and the sides are always my favorite part. Smokey baked beans can honestly be a meal on its own. I sometimes add ground beef to this recipe and it goes so well especially if you are a meat lover. The best part of this recipe is it is a time saver as we are doing a semi-homemade dish. We will be buying canned baked beans and adding extra punch of flavor!

There are few key things to make these babies shine.

  1. Hickory liquid smoke – its in a bottle by the BBQ sauces at the store.
  2. Hickory thick cut bacon
  3. Original style canned baked beans

I think you catch the theme here with the hickory. This is going to give the Smokey flavor we are trying to achieve  and when mixed with the brown sugar and spices… ooooh its so YUMMY! Hands down my husbands favorite of my baked bean recipes. As soon as he walks in the door he gets so excited when he can smell them cooking. I love to make them in a Dutch oven, but if you don’t have one a ceramic baking dish will be great. You can easily double or triple this recipe and cook for the same time.

If you are smoking, I like to start on the stove and finish in the smoker.
