This simple recipe is comforting and flavorful, but without being too sweet. Perfect for those who hate super sweet desserts. To add a little more I serve with a light dusting of powder sugar and some whipped cream. SCRUMPTIOUS!
Moving along with my easy desserts for spring, this one can be done with frozen cherries, BUT when they are in season, revisit this post because holy cow it is superb with fresh fruit. I love the simplicity of this dish and how much it reminds me of my country roots. This comes from my great grandma and I’m so happy to share with everyone.

Cherry Cobbler
Simple and comforting with only 8 ingredients. This is a recipe that can be made all year round!
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 6 tbsp butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups cherries, frozen or fresh if frozen, let sit out for 10-20 minutes
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°
- In a medium bowl combine flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix and set aside
- In a 9 x 13 inch baking dish, line with parchment spray with non stick spray. If you don't have parchment, just spray well.
- In a mixer or hand mixer/bowl, add butter and 1 cup of sugar. Mix until creamy.
- On medium speed, alternately add the flour mix a milk. Mix and add the vanilla.
- Mix
- Pour the batter into the baking dish. Spread evenly. Then in a bowl add the cherries, 1/2 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar.
- Mix and pour on top of the batter and spread until evenly covered.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden.
- Sprinkle with powder sugar and top with whipped cream! A nice scoop of vanilla ice-cream goes well too!
