Dessert Sauces & Dressings

Whiskey Peaches!

Yes whiskey and peaches, you read that right, and what a lovely combo it is!

With Summer coming up there is always an abundance of delicious fresh fruits and peaches are one of my favorites to use in my dessert recipes. Store canned peaches always sit in that slimy liquid and just doesn’t have the same taste that you get with fresh.

With this style of peaches you get a incredible whiskey/cinnamon syrup that will knock your favorite desserts out of the park!

You can use this peach topping for many different recipes. I like to store them in the fridge and use as a topping on vanilla ice cream, waffles, pancakes, and as a pie or tart filling! I also will double that recipe and can them for storage. They last about 3 months. They are versatile and have so many different uses.

Ok, Let’s get started!

Ingredients

  • 6 fresh peaches
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whiskey
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of water to boil, add the peaches a boil for 2 minutes. Now move to a ice bath and let them cool slightly
  • Now peel the peaches. I use a potato peeler. After peeled, cut into thin pieces
  • To make the syrup we will start by bringing 2 cups of water to boil, add the sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. After the sugar dissolves add the the peaches, and whiskey. Cook for about 8 minutes.
  • Transfer the peaches to a large bowl with slotted spoon/spatula. Now continue cooking the syrup for 15 minutes or until the liquid has reduced by half.
  • Let the syrup cool and then pour over the peaches
  • Use right away as toppings or filling. To store you can keep refrigerate for about a week or can be canned for up to 3 months!
  • ENJOY!
