1/2cupbutter, gratedI use a regular cheese grater.
1 1/2cupssliced strawberries
whip cream
fresh mint for garnish
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350℉
Start by mixing the strawberry slices with 2-3 tbsp. of sugar. Set aside or refrigerate.
In a large bowl combine the flour, 1/4 cup sugar, and cream of tartar.
Add the grated butter.
Mix. Next goes the egg and heavy cream. Stir until combined.
Now press/mix into ball in the bowl. Do the best you can with combining the ball all together.
Next, we are turning the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for 2 minutes.
Press into a rectangle. As even as you can get it. We want it about a 1/2 inch thick.
Cut into 6 pieces. One slice across and 3 down. You can leave as it or trim off the edges. I like to use a pizza cutter.
Move to a parchment covered baking sheet, (If you are using any flavored salt you can sprinkle on now)
Bake for 20 minutes. Let them cool slightly.
To assemble-Break/cut a shortcake in half, add some whip cream to the cake and then a scoop of strawberries, Next goes the 2nd shortcake. More cream and 1 berry and a mint leaf for garnish.
