Ground Beef Cheesy One-Pot Pasta-topped with Ricotta and Mozzarella, and baked to perfection!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1/4 medium onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 1/2 cups of short pasta (penne, rigatoni, or shells)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • Olive oil, for cooking

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Ground Beef

  1. Heat a large oven-safe skillet or pot over medium heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil, then add the onions and garlic. Sauté for about 2 minutes.
  2. Add the beef cook until the beef is browned and no longer pink, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks.

Step 2: Build the sauce

  1. Pour in the tomatoes, pasta, and beef broth. Stir to combine.
  2. Add the Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.

Step 3:

  1. Stir in the uncooked pasta, ensuring it’s fully submerged in the sauce.
  2. Cover and cook over medium heat, for about 10-12 minutes, or until the pasta is al dente and has absorbed the flavors of the sauce.

Step 4: Add the Cheeses

  1. Turn off the heat.
  2. Dollop the ricotta cheese evenly over the top of the pasta. Sprinkle the remaining shredded mozzarella over the ricotta.

Step 5: Bake to Perfection

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Place the skillet or pot (ensure it is oven-safe) in the oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese topping is melted and bubbly. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Remove the dish from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes.
  2. Serve hot and enjoy the rich, cheesy goodness. This dish pairs perfectly with a side salad or garlic bread.
Enjoy the ultimate comfort of this cheesy, hearty pasta dish, perfect for family dinners or cozy nights in!
