I love potatoes!
I was born in Idaho and it’s kind of a requirement to love them. Tots, however, are a special little potato treat and I love adding different seasonings to make them even better. These Cajun seasoned tots are not too salty, super easy, and I feel I have created the perfect seasoning blend.
We have a restaurant chain here in the PNW called McMenamins. They are really unique with most also being historic hotels. Many locations are wineries, breweries, spas, gardens, have golfing, and movie theatres on site too. They have locations all over starting from Seattle Washington to Bend Oregon. It is such a fun experience and I highly recommend visiting if you find yourself over here. Now the point to this story is they have the BEST Cajun tots! It is a local’s favorite and a must try. Naturally I decided to make my own and while I am not claiming these are the same at all, they are pretty delicious. Don’t need any locals coming for me lol. Just a fun way to fancy up a frozen bag of tater tots. Perfect for appetizers, cocktail parties, and game days.
Let’s get started!
INGREDIENTS:
-
1/2 32-ounce bag of tots. If using a whole, just double the spices.
- 2 tbsp. Cajun seasoning
- 1/2 tsp onion salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 1/2 tbsp. butter, melted
- 1/3 cup Mayonnaise
- 2-3 tbsp. ketchup
DIRECTIONS:
Super easy.
- Bake, or air fry half the bag according to the directions on the back. I air fry but have been known to bake them on occasion. Air fry is quick and gives that perfect crunch like you get at restaurants, without the grease.
- While the tots are cooking mix up all the dry ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
- Next let’s get the dip ready (optional) Mix the ketchup and mayo together. Adjust taste to preference.
- After the tots are nice and golden put them in a bowl and immediately pour on the butter and give it a quick toss.
- Now add the spice mixture and toss well. You want to try and cover each tot as evenly as possible.
- Pour on a splatter and serve with the dip, ranch, ketchup, or whatever you fancy.
ENJOY!
