The secret ingredient is always love… and mayo.
Dukes mayonnaise to be exact! Nothing beats a classic sandwich like a BLT! I love to add fresh herbs in my mayo like dill, cilantro, and parsley. Some fresh cracked pepper and give it a good stir. Toast some croissant bread or sourdough bread on one side, this keeps it soft on the outside for a squishy bite. Or toast both if you like for lots of crunch.
Fresh produce is very important. Pick ripe tomatoes with no bruises.
Ingredients:
(Makes 2 sandwiches- adjust accordingly)
- 4 slices of sourdough or croissant bread
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2-3 heriloom tomatoes, sliced
- 8 slices of bacon
- fresh iceberg lettuce
- fresh herbs 1 tsp dill, 1 tbsp cilantro, 1 tbsp parsley.
- 1/2 cup mayo
Directions:
- Start by cooking the bacon. Turn the oven to 400 degrees.
- Lay the bacon on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cook for 15-20 minutes depending on how you like it done.
- Chop the herbs. In a small bowl combine the herbs and mayo. Mix well.
- Toast the bread on a griddle or in a pan with the butter until golden.
- Slather herb mayo on the toast.
- Season salt and pepper on the tomatoes
- Layer 4 pieces of bacon on the bottom piece of toast.
- Next goes the lettuce, then tomato.
- Lastly the top piece of toast
- Mmmm craving satisfied.
